Mardan is a district in the North-West Frontier Province of Pakistan. It is one of the largest districts in the province, with a population of 1,636,943 according to the 2017 census. The district was created in 1993 from parts of Peshawar District and Malakand District. In 1996, Mardan became part of KPK when it was carved out from Punjab. Everyone from KPK is eligible for Mardan Jobs. The name Mardan is said to be derived from “Mard-e-Naran,” meaning “the land of brave men.”
The district has a diverse population with different ethnic groups such as Pashtun, Hindko speakers, and Urdu speakers.
